<p>The patent pertains to a handheld medical device with associated procedures and a system for monitoring medication intake. The device receives, transmits and stores patient journals and controls scheduled alarm times for medication intake. The device records the date and times for medication intake and stores information about confirmed/missed alarms, as well as information about when the indicated compartment was opened/not opened. The device has a personal recording/playback function, individual messages, information about medication side effects and state of health are stored on a memory circuit. The device has a specially adapted patient journal program with two-way communication to the server program. The operating system provides an interface with other external measurement units and journal programs. The device display contains visual symbols, visual illumination, interchangeable audio signals and a vibrator. The electronic signal system with visual indicator emits signals at prescribed intervals. The signal indicates the patient needs to take their medication and the visual illumination indicates the relevant compartment. Missed doses are permanently indicated on the display. Included in the system is a medication receptacle and storage box containing multiple receptacles with adjustable compartments to organise, store and distribute predetermined medications.</p> |
