PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deflection with respect to external load by providing a stretching roll, arranged adjacent to a load member facing roll along the rotating direction of a belt. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus U is provided with belt support members Rj1, Rj2, Rj3, Rj4, Rw1, Rw2, T1 and T2a which include the load member facing rolls T2a and Rj2 which are arranged opposite to load members T2b and CL2 across the endless belt B, in such a state that the load members T2b and CL2 which come into contact with or separate from the belt B, to allow the external load to act on the belt B are in contact with it, and have a roll width greater than the belt width, and the stretching roll Rj1 which has a roll width smaller than a belt width; belt deflection restraining members Gb and Gb, which come into contact with the end portions of the belt B protruding from the end portions of the stretching roll Rj1 and narrow the end portions, as going toward their outer end portions on the stretching roll Rj1, to restrain the deflection of the belt B; and a belt conveyance device BM.
