PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of easily and quickly detecting the abnormality of an illumination light illuminated by an illumination means. SOLUTION: This endoscope apparatus 1 includes an insertion section 2 to be inserted inside a subject, the illumination means 7 for illuminating the illumination light to the subject, an image pickup device 6 capturing the image of the inside of the subject illuminated by the illumination device and outputting image signals, and a video signal processing section 20 for generating video signals from the image signals. The video signal processing section includes a color separation means 22 for generating color signals from the image signals, and an abnormality detecting means 26 calculating a color temperature of the image corresponding to the image signals based on the color signal output from the color separation means 22 and determining whether the color temperature of the image is within the abnormality illumination region preset corresponding to the abnormal state of the illumination light.
