PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor control device with improved meshing of a planetary gear, and to provide a printer and a drive control method. SOLUTION: The motor control device comprises: a motor 311; a power transmission changeover part 312 having the planetary gear 315 driven by the motor 311, and a specific gear 316 detachable from the planetary gear 315; and a control means 100 constituted of information for controlling the drive of the motor 311, and controlling the drive of the motor 311 based on a drive table having a meshing promotion low speed part for driving the planetary gear 315 at low speed compared with the other part in the drive table to mesh the planetary gear 315 with the specific gear 316, when they are not meshed with each other.
