<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of detecting the failure of an atmospheric pressure detecting means during traveling. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system 2 stops the driving of a compressor 31 when idling is stopped and stops the supply of air to a fuel cell stack 11. When idling is stopped, an air pressure sensor 42 detects air pressure in air supply piping 32. When idling is stopped, since air supply by the compressor 31 is stopped, the air pressure in the air supply piping 32 approaches atmospheric pressure when the idling is stopped.
