摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the number of component parts and to miniaturize a device by constituting an optical pickup of a movable part which crosses a track and a common part opposed to the movable part. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-optical pickup 6 is constituted of the movable parts 4 opposed on the respective surfaces of a magneto-optical disk 3 which is driven to be rotated by a spindle motor 2 and a fixed part 5 which performs the transfer of light with the movable part 4. The disk 3 is irradiated with the light transmitted through a half prism 14 through a totally reflecting mirror 16a and an objective lens 17a in the movable part 4a. The returning light from the disk 3, whose plane of polarization is rotated, is rotated by 45% by the 1/2 wavelength plate 19 of the half prism 14 of the fixed part 5 and made incident on a polarized light beam splitter 22, then the P polarized component of the light is made incident on a photodetector 23 and the S polarized component thereof is made incident on a photodetector 25 through a Foucault prism 24. Output signals from both photodetectors 23 and 25 are differentially amplified so as to obtain a reproducing signal.
