A device and a method for cleaning fractured surfaces of fractured or cracked workpieces (6, 8), for example a bearing seat of connecting rods, crankshaft housings or Cardan shafts, are proposed. In this case, the two parts (6, 8) which have the fractured surfaces (10) are positioned such that the respectively associated fractured surfaces (10) are in contact or are spaced apart from one another.
