There is provided an apparatus adapted to generate code for execution on a distributed processing system, comprising: a data interface adapted to receive a first source code written in a high-level programming language, the first source code including a plurality of abstract data types; and an isomorphic specializer module adapted to map each of the plurality of abstract data types to at least one concrete data type selected from a plurality of isomorphic concrete data types, wherein each of the isomorphic concrete data types stores equivalent values, is interchangeable with other of the isomorphic concrete data types and/or produces the same resulting values.
