<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply set recording strategy to all optical disks in the optical disk device. <P>SOLUTION: In a memory 32a of a system controller 32, a table, in which the optimal recording strategy is set, is stored for each of identification information for an optical disk 10. The average recording strategy is set to the optical disk 10 having no identification information. When data is recorded in the optical disk 10 having no identification information, test data is recorded with the average record strategy and the strategy changed from this, the strategy, in which a detection rate for a synchronizing signal is a predetermined value or more, is set as the optimal strategy.
