PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter with superior waterproofness and ruggedness for making it possible for a person adrift on the sea to switch surely even under severe conditions. SOLUTION: A main body unit including a transmitter 2 for transmitting a signal which specifies a position and a switch 4 for turning on and off the transmitter is covered with a waterproof coating material 5. The switch 4 has a first contact member 4a made of magnetic material and a second contact member 4b made of non-magnetic material for making open/close operation of the first and second contact members 4a, 4b by using attractive force, by which a magnet 9 at an exterior of the coating member 5 attracts the first contact member 4a. A mounting means for mounting a magnet holder which holds the magnet 9 in a freely removing and mounting way is provided at a main body unit 1a covered with the coating member 5, and under a condition in which the magnet holder is mounted on the main body unit 1a, the magnet 9 is fixed at a position where the first contact member 4a exerts attractive force on the first contact member 4a.
