The purpose of the present invention is to provide an open MRI apparatus which allows, without compromising the openness, the homogeneity of a static magnetic field in an imaging space to be maintained even when an object is placed in the imaging space. The open MRI apparatus comprises: a pair of static magnetic field generation magnets which face each other, are positioned above and below an imaging space in which an object is placed, and generate a static magnetic field in the imaging space; a pair of gradient magnetic field coils which face each other, are positioned above and below the imaging space, and disposed closer to the imaging space than the pair of static magnetic field generation magnets; a pair of radio frequency transmit coils which face each other, are positioned above and below the imaging space, and disposed closer to the imaging space than the pair of gradient magnetic field coils; and a pair of base plates for the radio frequency transmit coils which support the respective radio frequency transmit coils of the pair relative to the static magnetic field generation magnets. The pair of base plates for the radio frequency transmit coils have mutually different shapes and/or mutually different support structures supported by the pair of static magnetic field generation magnets. |
