PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the improvement in treatment capability, the reduction of the moisture content of cake and the improvement in cake peelability. SOLUTION: Metallic heating filter plates 3 which internally have flow paths for heating fluid, have filtrate flow grooves 3e and so forth and have not diaphragms on the filter cloth 4-side surfaces, compression filter plates 2 which are provided with flexible resin diaphragms 2E on the filter cloth 4-side surfaces and have filtrate flow grooves 2e and so forth on the filter cloth 4-side surfaces of the diaphragms 2E are alternately arrayed. The spacings between the diaphragms 2E and the compression filter plates 2 are formed as fluid chambers 2D. The diaphragms 2E are made freely expandable and contractable by the supply of fluid to the fluid chambers 2D and the discharge of the supply fluid therefrom. The heat of the heating fluid passing the inside of the heating filter plates 3 is transferred via the heating filter plates 3 to the sludge supplied to the inside surface side 4S of the filter cloth, by which the supply sludge is heated.
