<p>PURPOSE:To improve electron emission efficiency by forming a cathode material layer into a pattern with slowly varying width. CONSTITUTION:A cathode material layer 3 is formed as having an edge part 3a into, e.g., a cross shape extending from a center in all four directions. Its vertical cross section is formed in a rectangular or trapezoidal shape and its horizontal cross section is formed as its width (w) spanning from the end side to the center, slowly varies linearly from 0 to a preset dimension, correspondingly. Accordingly, even dispersion is generated in accuracy of the patterns of the cathode material layer 3 and a control electrode 6, an edge part which provides necessary intensity of electric field for electron emission surely exists, and electric field can be concentrated easily on this edge part. Therefore electron emission effect can be enhanced.</p> |
