Pulmonary and nasal delivery of raloxifene

Described is a method of pulmonary delivery of raloxifene to a patient suffering from menopausal or post-menopausal symptoms, which comprises: (a) having the patient inhale an aerosolised amount of raloxifene through the patient's mouth into the lungs. (b) optionally repeating the inhalation step a sufficient number of times until an effective amount of raloxifene is delivered to the patient. The aerosolised amount of raloxifene may be produced by introducing raloxifene as a dry powder into a gas stream or by nebulising or spraying a liquid solution or suspension of raloxifene.
