A language setup device of an image display device and a method therefor are provided to convert corresponding language information into information capable of being recognized in an image medium reproducing device. An image display device(100) automatically sets an OSD(On Screen Display) language as a language of a corresponding area from a broadcasting signal received through an antenna. An image medium reproducing unit(200) grasps whether it is possible to set a caption in an image of a reproducing medium to be reproduced through communication with the image display device(100), and processes the caption to set the caption as information identical to OSD language information set up in the image display device(100). |
