摘要 A method and a system for forming turbulent cooling holes are provided to extend life span of a turbine engine by improving film cooling downstream from the cooling holes. A system for forming turbulent cooling holes comprises an electrode(100) having at least one uninsulated section(110), and an insulation section(108) that substantially circumscribes at least one section of the electrode. The electrode is inserted into a starter hole(102) to form a hole defined by at least one first section having a first cross-sectional area and at least one second section having a second cross-sectional area. The electrode has a plurality of insulated sections that substantially cover the electrode. The uninsulated section of the electrode is extended between each pair of adjacent insulated sections of the electrode.
