PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for moving a selection among a plurality of two-dimensionally arranged items being displayed, in such a way that the movement of the selection better reflects intention of a user.SOLUTION: An electronic device displays a plurality of display items two-dimensionally arranged in a display area, receives a modification instruction including a pointed direction for switching a selected display item amongst the plurality of display items, responds to receipt of the modification instruction by searching for a display item to be selected next according to the pointed direction, and moves the selection to a retrieved display item. In the display item search, a display item to be selected is searched for in a first region located next to the selected display item in the pointed direction within a range on the pointed direction-side of the selected display item in the display area and, if a display item is not found in the first region, the search in the first region is followed by a search for a display item in a second region, outside the first region, in the range on the pointed direction-side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
