PURPOSE:To reduce shock upon speed change operation in hot shift by performing shift up or down when the difference between transmission torque and rotational speed is below a specified value. CONSTITUTION:Gears 2a, 3a and geared transmissions 2, 3 are connected through slide clutches 2b, 3b and rotational speed detectors 5a, 5b are arranged in the vicinity of the gears 2a, 2c. Upon shift up, in a process to engage the slide clutches 2b, 3b measuring transmission torque of a power transmission passage set to a lower speed change step the clutch of the lower speed step is released when the transmission torque decreases below the specified level. Upon shift down, the clutch is released when the rotational speed of the clutch is synchronized. It is thus possible to fully minimize shock at speed change in hot shift.
