Femoral-patellar prosthesis and ancillary device for making a trochlear impression for receiving said prosthesis

The instrument consists of an intra-medullary guide (3) which is inserted into the distal end of the femur along its anatomical axis, a support (17) mounted on the guide, and a cutter guide (26) to receive a cutter (1) in the shape of a cylinder with a surface which can wear or file the surface of the trochlea when rotated by its drive shaft (34). The cutter guide has lengthwise guide members (33a) which enable the cylindrical cutter to move in two intersecting planes - one at a tangent to the anterior cortex and the other inclined and parallel to the inter-condyle zone. The support has two sliders (18b,22) which allow the cutter guide to be moved in two perpendicular directions, and an adjustable feeler for automatic regulation of the distance separating the guide from the anterior cortex.
