PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system using a real landmark and capable of specifying a position and a direction thereof accurately with respect to a road in the vicinity thereof to be displayed on a screen. SOLUTION: This navigation system for guide display based on map information is provided with a landmark displaying means for screen-displaying a facility corresponding to the map information as the landmark, and the landmark displaying means sets a reference position in the landmark, and specifies the position and the direction of the landmark in order to contact with the one road in the vicinity of the landmark, in response to a classification of the landmark.
