A chamber system for transmitting ions generated by means of ion generation source, comprising: a) an ion generation source under atmospheric pressure to generate ions from a pre-determinable liquid or solid specimen material; b) a tube-like device for transferring ions generated by means of said ion generation source comprising a cylindrical middle portion and an inlet portion for introduction of the ions into the cylindrical middle portion, wherein a flow direction of the ions is along a longitudinal axis of the tube-like device, wherein the inlet portion is formed as a funnel tapering towards the cylindrical middle portion; c) a heating element for heating the ions; and d) a device for receiving the emitted ions, wherein the ion generation source is arranged within said inlet portion wherein at least one ion is transferred in longitudinal direction by ion optics, characterized in that the ion optics are arranged at least partly remotely from the inlet portion and focus the ions towards an orifice of the inlet portion.
