PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane-electrode structure which is improved in durability and power generation characteristics by inhibiting cracks, fissures and the like from being generated on the face of the side facing an electrolyte membrane of an electrode catalyst layer, and also to provide a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: In an electrolyte membrane-electrode structure 10, electrode catalyst layers 18a, 18b including a high polymer electrolyte and a catalyst are provided on both face sides of an electrolyte membrane 12, respectively. In the electrode catalyst layers 18a, 18b, the weight of a component 22 of the high polymer electrolyte included in one face 24 side facing the electrolyte membrane 12 is at least twice as heavy as the other face 26 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
