A network analysis tool is provided. The tool is configured to enable the analysis of traffic on the network so as to provide for scheduler hierarchies. By analysing the traffic using techniques based on large deviation theory the present invention provides for the analysis of traffic on multiple inputs to a scheduler based on the traffic class and a parameter defining how traffic on that specific input should be treated.
