Process for manufacturing a composite material comprising fibers and at least one vinyl chloride polymer comprising the immersion of the fibers in a hydrosol of said polymer in order to obtain fibers coated with said hydrosol followed by the drying and gelling of said hydrosol coated on the fibers. Composite material and use thereof for forming articles or for manufacturing reinforcing objects. Profiles reinforced by this composite material.

A process for manufacturing a composite material comprising mineral fibres and at least one vinyl chloride polymer comprising immersing the mineral fibres in a hydrosol of said polymer in order to obtain mineral fibres coated with said hydrosol followed by drying and gelling of said hydrosol coated on the mineral fibres, wherein the hydrosol does not contain an organic solvent, and the hydrosol is a fluid and colloidal system having a dispersed phase and a continuous phase, the dispersed phase comprising the vinyl chloride polymer and the continuous phase is water, and the hydrosol comprises 15 wt. % to less than 40 wt. % of the vinyl chloride polymer.
