The device has a housing which is connected by a sleeve to a vertical rainfall pipe connected to the roof gutters. The housing is an outer housing (1) which is box-shaped and which has an inlet sleeve (1a) located on its top side and an outlet sleeve (1b) located on its base. A removable water collection box (2) is provided inside the outer box and fills up the space between the inlet and outlet sleeves, with a deflector unit (3) provided beneath the inlet sleeve.
