PURPOSE:To determine any abnormality of a neutral switch accurately by determining the neutral switch as abnormal, when combination of a position of a transmission with fuel cutting time comes in a proset condition. CONSTITUTION:A neutral switch NS detects whether the transmission of an internal combustion engine is in its neutral position or not, and a fuel cutting period of time measuring means M1 measures a fuel cutting period of which is a period of time diring which the fuel cutting continuous. An abnormality determination means M2 determines a neutral switch NS as abnormal. When combination of a position of a transmission to be detected by the neutral switch NS with fuel cutting period of time to be measured by the fuel cutting period of time measuring means M1 comes in a preset condition. Therefore, the abnormality of the neutral switch can be determined accurately and the determination is not affected by pressure condition of the atmospheie, vehicle speed and the magnitude of a load on the engine. |
