PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for baking a graphitic refractory by which the baking time is shortened and the graphitic refractory is baked and produced without using a metallic container or expensive nitrogen gas. SOLUTION: An antioxidant film containing 10-35wt.% metallic Si, 5-15wt.% SiC, 10-25wt.% B2 O3 , 5-15wt.% K2 O, 20-35wt.% SiO2 , 5-15wt.% Al2 O3 and one or more of CaO, MgO and Fe2 O3 is formed on the surface of a material to be baked in baking a graphitic refractory containing graphite, and providing a molding using a resin as a binder and the resultant graphitic refractory is then baked in an oxidizing atmosphere. As a result, the baking produces extremely beneficial effects such as improvement in quality of the material to be baked, reduction in dispersion, further improvement in baking efficiency and working environment as compared with those of a conventional method. |
