Automatic filter change over unit for diesel exhaust particulate measurements

An automatic filter change over unit (1) is claimed. Its sampling station (2) for a diesel exhaust particle measurement system, is used with an internal combustion engine test stand. A filter clamping station (3) is included. This part (2) and the filter is inserted before reclosure. One side of the filter faces the particle laden exhaust flow, the other the atmosphere. In novel construction, the filter forms part of an assembly laid loosely into a holder (5). A stack of these holders and filter assemblies is placed in one or more filter magazines (6). An automation (7) extracts each filter assembly, carries it to the clamping station (3), returning it after measurement, to the magazine. An automatically opening and closing door (8) completes magazine hermetic closure during exchange. Particle-laden filter assemblies are extracted manually and taken to evaluation and regeneration stations, before re-use.
