Metal sheet forming tool is a composite structure with a plastic based supporting body and a metallic face (D). The metal face is formed my electroforming onto a negative model (6) and then the plastic body is cast onto the rear side of the metal to form a positive intermediate product. The negative model is then separated from the metal facing layer. An Independent claim is also included for the metal sheet forming tool in which the metal facing layer (D) is a galvanically formed shell (8) with a supporting body attached to the rear side. Preferred Features: The facing layer is created by repeated galvanic precipitation or physical (PVD) or chemical (CVD) vaporization stages.
