摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device preventing generation of display unevenness which is liable to occur in a halftone display in connection with enlarging of a screen area and realizing a high precision display by uniformizing a rubbing treatment. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device comprises advancing an electrode substrate 10 while rotating a rubbing roll 12 having a cloth formed on its surface, rubbing an alignment layer 3 on the display electrodes 2 formed on the substrate with the cloth in contact therewith and conducting a rubbing treatment of the alignment layer 3. There is a recessing difference in level 12a formed on the rubbing roll 12 and the rubbing roll 12 is arranged so as to conduct the rubbing treatment by making the clothes at the level difference 12a rub the tip part of the alignment layer 3. Thereby the rubbing strength on the part, where a threshold voltage is elevated to generate display unevenness, is decreased to reduce the threshold voltage and to attain a uniform displaying state on the full surface.
