<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for changing the functions of a printing device, and to provide a method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The system 10 includes a printing device 12 having a cartridge slot 16 configured to receive any of a plurality of different cartridge types 14, 94 and 96, and a computing device 15 connected to the printing device 12 and including a processor 66 configured to control the operation of the printing device 12. The system includes a first command that can be loaded on the computing device 15.
