An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to make it possible to switch between a narrow viewing angle mode and a wide viewing angle mode, by forming a polymer dispersion type LCD panel above an LCD panel. An LCD panel(111) comprises first and second substrates(151,153), pixel regions(P) defined on the first substrate, pixel electrodes(161) formed within the pixel regions, color filters(157) and a common electrode(163) formed on one surface of the second substrate, first and second polarizing plates respectively attached on outer surfaces of the first and second substrates. First and second transparent substrates(171,173) are distanced from each other above the LCD panel. A first electrode(179) is formed on one surface of the first transparent substrate, which faces the second transparent substrate. A second electrode(183) is distanced from the first electrode. A third electrode(181) is formed on a surface of the second transparent substrate, which faces the first transparent substrate. Liquid crystal molecules(187) are disposed in a region between the first and second transparent substrates, wherein the liquid crystal molecules are driven in a normally scattering mode when voltage is not applied. |
