The invention relates to a method for transmitting data in the framework of a communication between at least two entities. According to the invention, one such method includes: a step comprising the receipt by a receiving entity of a message transmitted by a transmitting entity requesting application data, said message containing a typology identifier designating a pre-defined message type and a datum representative of the application data to be obtained; and a step comprising the identification of at least one server, known as the location service, capable of locating the application data to be obtained as a function of the representative datum and the typology identifier.
