摘要 The method involves emitting focused laser beam and acquiring (200) electrical signal resulting from transit of particle across beam at point of transit. The signal is analyzed (201) to obtain spectrogram revealing elongate mark representative of transit. The duration of traversal of laser beam is estimated (202) by particle and slope of mark. The distance is deduced between point of traversal of beam and focusing point. The radius of beam is determined at the point of transit. The transverse component is deduced (203) from radius and duration. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an anemometer; and (2) a computer program for estimating transverse component of velocity of air.
