A die apparatus 0 for extruding thermoplastic or thermoset products comprising a barrel 2 with an inlet 6 for receiving extrudate from an extrusion machine 8, a helical conveying screw 1 enclosed within the barrel to laterally displace the extrudate 10 and an aperture 4 in the sidewall of the barrel. The aperture in the sidewall of the barrel provides an opening to a side mounted die chamber 5 substantially orientated on the barrel at the helix angle of the conveying screw, such that the extrudate is extruded from the side of the barrel at said helix angle. This orientation reduces the shear stress imparted upon the extrudate, allowing wider profile extrusions to be undertaken. Preferably.
