A light source device and a projector having the same are provided to emit a favorable laser beam from the light source device by improving the oscillation and wavelength conversion efficiency of the laser beam. A light source device is composed of a laser light source(311) for oscillating a laser beam of a predetermined wavelength; a non-linear optical element(312) disposed oppositely to a light emitting surface of the laser light source to emit the laser beam after converting the oscillated wavelength of the laser beam emitted from the laser light source; a volume phase grating(313) disposed oppositely to the light emitting surface of the laser beam with the wavelength converted by the non-linear optical element, and provided with a bragg grating structure installed inside to selectively reflect the laser beam of the oscillated wavelength; and a first dielectric multi-layer film(313B) formed on the light emitting surface of the volume phase grating to transmit the laser beam with the converted wavelength and reflect the laser beam with the oscillated wavelength.
