<p>PURPOSE:To provide a lateral for forming a branch pipe which can be simply joined to a main pipe and has good water stop performance. CONSTITUTION:A lateral 1 includes a fitting portion 3 fitted in a fitting hole 81 bored in a main pipe 8 at one end thereof. The fitting portion 3 is constructed so that at the time of fitting in the fitting hole 81, a projecting portion 6 locked on the inner wall surface 8a of the main pipe 8 to prevent its separation from the main pipe 8 is formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof. Further, an elastic material 7 is installed and compressed between a step portion 31 formed on the lateral side end portion of the fitting portion 3 and the main pipe outer wall surface 8b of the periphery of the fitting hole for sealing a gap 9 formed between the fitting portion 3 and the fitting hole 81.</p> |
