1. A method for sharing a server-stored content item, comprising:
receiving, from a computing device used by a link sharer, a request to share the server-stored content item, the server-stored content item associated with a user account held by the link sharer with a content management service that hosts the server-stored content item; responsive to receiving the request, generating a unique shareable link that uniquely identifies the server-stored content item among a plurality of server-stored content items hosted with the content management service; receiving, from the computing device used by the link sharer, a request selecting one or more use restrictions on using the unique shareable link to access the server-stored content item, at least one use restriction, of the one or more use restrictions, indicating one or more user accounts held with the content management service that, according to the at least one use restriction, are authorized to use the unique shareable link to access the server-stored content item; storing the one or more use restrictions in association with the unique shareable link; receiving, from a computing device used by an authenticated link submitter that holds a user account with the content management service, a request using the unique shareable link to attempt to access the server-stored content item; and allowing access to the server-stored content item, if the user account held by the authenticated link submitter is one of the one or more user accounts that, according to the at least one use restriction associated with the unique shareable link, is authorized to use the unique shareable link to access the server-stored content item. |
