TRIMETHINE COMPOUND AND OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM PRODUCED BY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recordable optical recording medium enabling the recording and reproduction with a short wavelength laser having a wavelength of 520-690 nm and having good recording characteristics not only at the standard recording speed but also at a twelvefold or higher speed recording.

SOLUTION: The trimethine compound is expressed e.g. by formula. The optical recording medium at least has a recording layer containing an organic dye and a reflection layer on a substrate wherein the organic dye contains at least one kind of the above trimethine dimer compound.
