An electric bicycle and a control method thereof are disclosed. The electric bicycle, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a sensor part which senses a driver riding the electric bicycle; a motor output control part which controls the output of a drive motor of the bicycle; and an electronic control unit which changes the output of the motor through the motor output control part when the riding of the driver is sensed, wherein the electronic control unit turns on the output of the motor in the case that the riding of the driver is sensed. |
