<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the thickness of an ink layer to be preset in an inking unit of a printer so that waste sheets can be reduced to the utmost. <P>SOLUTION: This printer 1 comprises a control computer 5, and the inking units 16 and 17 which are controlled by the control computer 5. The control computer 5 computes the thickness S<SB>1</SB>of the ink layer, required for a desired color tone, by using a medium to be printed and spectral diffuse reflection values β<SB>0</SB>and β<SB>PW</SB>of ink, and performs regulation processes in the inking units 16 and 17, which are required for setting the computed thickness S<SB>1</SB>of the ink layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
