PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To revise a transit time from detection of silence till data communication control in matching with application of the user with respect to the digital portable telephone system that conducts data communication in the detection of a silence. SOLUTION: Priority of data communication (silence consecutive time from voice communication transferred to data communication) is decided by the operation of a key operation section 11 and stored in a storage section 17. The priority time is e.g. 1 sec, 0.5 sec, or 0 sec. A voice coder 13 discriminates a voice level of a transmission voice signal during the voice communication by a receiver 15 to detect voiced sound or silence. In the case of detecting silence, a control section 12 discriminates whether or not the silence state is consecutive for a time corresponding to the priority designated based on the result of count of a timer circuit 18 and when consecutive, the voice communication is transferred into a data communication mode to attain the data communication by a data communication external device 20. |
