<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a optical retardation film having a highly uniform roll shape in which the angle between the width direction of the optical retardation film and the slow axis is controlled so that the optical retardation film can be continuously attached to a polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of optical retardation film, a polymer film continuously supplied is allowed to proceed in the longitudinal direction of the polymer film while both ends of the polymer film are held and, at the same time, the polymer film is stretched in a direction different from the proceeding direction in the stretching zone. Therein, when the film width on the stretching zone outlet side is Wo, the distance of stretching zone is L and the speed ratio of holding tools that hold both ends of the polymer film is α, the polymer film is stretched in the condition satisfying the following relation (1): 0.17<(L/Wo)×(1-1/α), wherein α<1.3 (1). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
