DRIVING METHOD OF PLASMA DISPLAY DEVICE

A method of driving a plasma display device is provided to enhance contrast of the display device by controlling a sustain period of reaching potential of a trapezoidal wave reset according to a display ratio of an image signal. An A/D converter circuit(4) converts an external input signal to a digital signal and outputs an image signal to a display ratio detection circuit(5). The display ratio detection circuit detects a display ratio from an image signal which is supplied to a PDP(Plasma Display Panel,1). A reaching sustain time setting circuit(6) sets a sustain time of reaching potential of a trapezoidal wave reset according to the detected display ratio and controls the sustain time of the reaching potential of the trapezoidal wave reset. When the display ratio is low, the reaching sustain time setting circuit outputs a control signal for decreasing the sustain time of the reset reaching potential to a reset circuit in a sustain circuit(3). The reset circuit(7) receives the control signal and controls a turn-on time of a switch.
