The present invention is directed to various embodiments of a communication device. In a one embodiment, a current conversation among a plurality of conversations is selected at the communication device. For the selected conversation, media received and associated with the selected conversation is rendered on the device, while media created on the device and associated with the selected conversation is transmitted from the device to the participants of the selected conversation. The media associated with the non-selected conversations is stored on the communication device for later review. In a second embodiment, the plurality of conversations may be consecutively rendered on the device using a priority order. As media for the plurality of conversations is received, the available media of the highest priority conversation is rendered while the media of the other conversations is rendered in a time-shifted mode. The priority order is continually updated so that all the received media is eventually rendered. In yet another embodiment, the media of the plurality of conversations may be simultaneously rendered and stored. With this embodiment, one of the conversations may be selected for review. During the review period, the received media of the other conversations is stored, but not rendered.
