PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the friction and preclude emission of rattling noise. SOLUTION: The lid opening and closing mechanism is structured so that a lid 2 is mounted on the body 1 of an object compartment for a vehicle in such a way as capable of opening and closing and a torsion spring 24 to energize the lid 2 in the rotating direction is interposed in the rotational center 3 of the lid 2 with respect to the body 1 of the object compartment, wherein the wind-up part 25 of the torsion spring 24 is wound coarsely so that the ends of the wind-up part 25 can energize the compartment body 1 and the lid 2 in the direction of going apart.
