PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of efficiently cooling heat from a light source, efficiently decreasing a light component in an infrared region included in the light from the light source and achieving miniaturization, reduction of weight and reduction of cost. SOLUTION: The projector includes the light source, an optical system for projecting a video by modulating the light emitted from the light source, and an optical module 10 provided between the light source and the optical system so as to decrease the heat transferred to the optical system from the light source and the light component in the infrared region. The optical module 10 includes a first tank provided on the light source side, storing a cooling liquid and having translucency, a second tank provided on the optical system side, storing a cooling liquid and having translucency, a cooling means 6 cooling the cooling liquid heated and rising in the first tank and feeding it to the second tank, an upper passage coupling the first tank and the second tank at an upper position, and a lower passage coupling the first tank and the second tank at a lower position.
