A method and a device for logging test results are provided to reduce resource waste and improve test performance by setting a tester to generate needed data of a plurality of DUTs. A first interface(206) accesses a stream of test data related to the tester(214) testing the plurality of DUTs(216). A second interface(208) accesses a data repository(210). A processor(204) selects items of the test data to be logged to the data repository according to a number of test data formatting selections. A third interface(212) receives at least one of the test data formatting selections from a user. The third interface includes a prompt for presetting the potential data format selection to facilitate the selection of the user. The processor selects the items of the test data to be logged according to union of elements of a test report to be generated.
