METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REPRODUCING CONTENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To encrypt high-quality moving picture data or high-quality audio data to record the encrypted data onto a read-only optical disk, while recording sample data that can be viewed or can be heard by a user for one segment of content of the encrypted data without decryption and to select the desired content from the sample data.

SOLUTION: A method and an apparatus for reproducing digital contents are provided. The method and apparatus determine whether or not information required to decrypt the encrypted content is present. If the above information is not present, a request for that information is issued to an external source on the basis of URL information to reproduce the encrypted content using the above information.
