The present invention relates to a mobile terminal for classifying a touch type according to a finger portion brought into contact with the touch screen to perform a different function and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal includes a touch screen, a sensing unit, and a control unit. The sensing unit senses a touch input applied to the touch screen. The control unit controls at least one of functions, which are executable in the terminal, when a touch input corresponding to a preset scheme is applied to the touch screen. When the touch input corresponding to the preset scheme is applied with a fingertip, the control unit executes a first function. When the touch input is applied with a nail, the control unit executes a second function different from the first function. |
